Inner healing prayer is an extended time of prayer ministry in the power of the Holy Spirit that allows time and space for Jesus to bring healing and freedom from emotional, spiritual, and trauma wounds from our past. These types of wounds can include:
• rejection or abandonment (even while in the womb)
• Father/Mother wounds
• trauma from abuse or tragic accidents
• resentment
• depression
• guilt
• shame
• fear
• anger
• un-forgiveness and the like
These wounds are often stored in the memories buried deep in the subconscious of hurting people. Inner healing focuses on healing the hurts and pains associated with those memories by helping people to experience Jesus' presence in the memory and give him those hurts, extending forgiveness where needed, and receiving Jesus' love, grace, and healing. This does not change the facts about the memory but removes the pain associated with it, freeing people from the negative emotions that affect their lives today.
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.”
— Psalm 139:13
God knows every moment of our lives. He knew us before the foundations of the world. Inner healing prayer invites God by the Holy Spirit to bring to mind the moments of our lives that He wants to bring healing and freedom. We trust Him to bring to mind the same memory of where these wounds first occurred to bring healing to them.
Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.
Jesus declares that He is uniquely anointed to bring healing to the broken places in people’s hearts, to set captives free, and to lead prisoners to liberty. Jesus gives sight to the blind and brings restoration into people’s lives. Inner Healing deals with our response to hurts from the past. These hurts may affect our lives in the form of bad memories, a sense of worthlessness and inferiority, unreasonable fears and anxieties, the inability to feel loved and accepted, etc...
There are many causes of negative emotional cycles, unhealthy response systems, and habits. They may come from separation from a parent through illness, divorce, or death (which can be experienced as rejection) or the experiences of failure or lack. It can also come from experiences of overwhelming fear, abuse, and a family history of problems such as alcoholism, violence, or involvement in the occult, and any unresolved burden of guilt.
Some of life’s hurts come from the fact that we live in a fallen world. Events such as accidents, disease, poverty, and natural disasters are not of deliberate choice. Hurts can also come from our own wrong decisions and responses. Often memories are pushed below our conscious thinking, where they remain and are felt in debilitating ways. They can express themselves in our lives as fear, anger, anxiety, resentment, self-hate, guilt, unforgiveness, an inability to trust, and persistent, irrational beliefs, etc... When we suppress the hurt so that we can cope, the memory is not dealt with and remains in an incapacitating way.
Our approach is to seek the presence of the Holy Spirit, asking for His discernment and knowledge of where ungodly beliefs, unhealthy expectancies, and tormenting judgments result from emotional and mental wounds. False beliefs, longings, and judgments can trap a person in the very pain and destructive patterns in their lives that they wish to escape. Once these issues are addressed, the ministry team then facilitates listening and inner-healing prayer in the confidence that Jesus invites us to come to Him with all our burdens (Matthew 11:28). We then turn to Jesus to bind up the brokenhearted, and He gives beauty for ashes.
Sessions are entirely confidential. The inner healing and deliverance prayer teams are trained and experienced in this ministry area. We approach this ministry with a fear of the Lord and love for people, with an uncompromised commitment to stay Scriptural accurate and sound in our approach.
